Jeremy Jones

Owner / Hitting Instructor

Jeremy Established Building Champions in 2003 after years of experience at the college and professional level. Jeremy played 2 years at Mesa Community College before moving on to Arizona State as a catcher where he was named defensive player of the year. During college Jeremy was drafted twice but after school landed with the Texas Rangers. He played for 5 years in the Rangers Organization before transitioning into coaching full-time.

Gerry Cope

Hitting / Infield Instructor

Gerry Cope has been with Building Champions since 2010. As a player Gerry played for 4 years at Emporia State University and also played for Team USA in 2003. Gerry coached at Olathe South for 7 years and also runs all of our Air Tight infield classes. He brings an extensive knowledge and a passion for teaching and baseball.

Ryan Kisner

Catching / Hitting Instructor

Ryan brings years of experience to Building Champions as a player and a coach. As a player he played for Rockhurst High School before playing at El Camino college in California. Ryan has also played with USA International in Holland and the Czech Republic. As a coach, Ryan has had stints at El Camino Community College in California as well as Rockhurst University, with also years of coaching youth in California and in the KC area as well. His is a great asset to the BC staff.

Jose Pena

Pitching / Outfield / Hitting Instructor

Jose signed as an International free agent out of the Dominican Republic at the age of 16 by the St. Louis Cardinals as an outfielder. Jose then transitioned to pitching where he was with the Cardinals organization for 5 years before moving into coaching full time. He has brought his experience and high energy to the BC family for the last 5 years.

Josh Smith

Pitching Instructor

Josh played for Wichita State University and was drafted as a junior by the Milwaukee Brewers but decided to return to school for his last year. His senior year he was drafted by the Pittsburg Pirates in the 25th round. Josh was with 2 other teams before making his major league debut with the Cleveland Indians in 2019. Josh has also pitching in the winter leagues in Venezuela and the Dominican Republic. Josh has brought his baseball and pitching experience to the BC family for the last 6 years now.

Cody White

Hitting / Catching Instructor

Cody comes to BC after playing Division 1 baseball at California State Bakersfield before moving on to Pittsburg State as a graduate transfer student. After receiving his Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology, Cody played 2 years in the American Independent League for the Texas Airhogs and the Cleburne Railroaders before moving into coaching full time. Cody bring a high energy and a high baseball IQ to our BC staff.

Chandler Wagoner

Hitting  / Catching Instructor

Chandler played his college career at the University of Oklahoma from 2014-2017 where he was drafted by the White Sox in the 36th round. After playing he decided to pursue a career in coaching where he started at Oklahoma but then moved on to Palomar CC in California. During that time he has also coached with multiple collegiate summer teams around the country. The past 2 years Chandler has been at Kansas University working with the hitters and catchers. We are super excited to have him apart of the staff.

Austin Brownell

Hitting  / Catching Instructor

Austin Brownell, from Cleveland, OK. Pitched two years at Seminole State CC Hall of Fame Coach Lloyd “Z” Simmons from 2015-16, finished up his playing career at Pittsburg State 2017-18. After his playing career Austin served as the assistant pitching/catching coach for the Gorillas in 2019 and 2020. After that he joined the Coffeyville CC coaching staff as an assistant coach developing pitchers, catchers & hitters as well as directing workouts/conditioning. Austin brings not only a playing career, but also his college coaching experience to the program.

Colton Murray

Pitching Instructor

Murray an Olathe East grad, played for the University of Kansas where he was Academic All Big 12 before being drafted by the Phillies in the 13th round in 2011. Colton from there made his major League debut on September 1, 2015. He has also played for the Tampa Bay Rays and the Miami Marlins. Colton brings his college and pro experience to BC and has a passion to further kids in the area of pitching.
