Jeremy Jones

Owner / Hitting Instructor

Jeremy Established Building Champions in 2003 after years of experience at the college and professional level. Jeremy played 2 years at Mesa Community College before moving on to Arizona State as a catcher where he was named defensive player of the year. During college Jeremy was drafted twice but after school landed with the Texas Rangers. He played for 5 years in the Rangers Organization before transitioning into coaching full-time.

Gerry Cope

Hitting / Infield Instructor

Gerry Cope has been with Building Champions since 2010. As a player Gerry played for 4 years at Emporia State University and also played for Team USA in 2003. Gerry coached at Olathe South for 7 years and also runs all of our Air Tight infield classes. He brings an extensive knowledge and a passion for teaching and baseball.

Ryan Kisner

Catching / Hitting Instructor

Ryan brings years of experience to Building Champions as a player and a coach. As a player he played for Rockhurst High School before playing at El Camino college in California. Ryan has also played with USA International in Holland and the Czech Republic. As a coach, Ryan has had stints at El Camino Community College in California as well as Rockhurst University, with also years of coaching youth in California and in the KC area as well. His is a great asset to the BC staff.

Jose Pena

Pitching / Outfield / Hitting Instructor

Jose signed as an International free agent out of the Dominican Republic at the age of 16 by the St. Louis Cardinals as an outfielder. Jose then transitioned to pitching where he was with the Cardinals organization for 5 years before moving into coaching full time. He has brought his experience and high energy to the BC family for the last 5 years.

Anthony Necochea

Hitting  / Outfield Instructor

Anthony played his college career at Valley City State University where he earned All Conference/Gold Glove honors from 2013-2018 along with the Universitie's Single Season Hits record with 81 hits. During the 2018-2019 season Anthony spent his time at Valley City State coaching the outfield. After college Anthony moved to New Hampshire and coached at Fryeburg Academy from 2019-2021. As a hitting and outfield instructor Anthony brings both high school and college coaching experience and a passion to educate and further the careers of all who are a part of the BC baseball program. 

Austin Brownell

Hitting  / Pitching Instructor

Austin Brownell, from Cleveland, OK. Pitched two years at Seminole State CC Hall of Fame Coach Lloyd “Z” Simmons from 2015-16, finished up his playing career at Pittsburg State 2017-18. After his playing career Austin served as the assistant pitching/catching coach for the Gorillas in 2019 and 2020. After that he joined the Coffeyville CC coaching staff as an assistant coach developing pitchers, catchers & hitters as well as directing workouts/conditioning. Austin brings not only a playing career, but also his college coaching experience to the program.

Josh Smith

Pitching Instructor

Josh played for Wichita State University and was drafted as a junior by the Milwaukee Brewers but decided to return to school for his last year. His senior year he was drafted by the Pittsburg Pirates in the 25th round. Josh was with 2 other teams before making his major league debut with the Cleveland Indians in 2019. Josh has also pitching in the winter leagues in Venezuela and the Dominican Republic. Josh has brought his baseball and pitching experience to the BC family for the last 6 years now.
